MARCELINE COAST TO COAST!Here are a couple of links to recent newspaper articles about Marceline. The first is from the Tampa Bay area and the second from Los Angeles. Small Missouri town stoked Walt Disney's imagination for Mickey, Disneyland Daily Travel and Deal Blog Werner Weiss visited Marceline in April. The following links are articles he wrote on his Yesterland website: WORKING FOR THE COMMUNITY The Chamber kicked off a new "Shop Local" campaign this week with its Brick and Mortar punch cards. By "brick and mortar" we mean a retail business with a storefront. The punch card, available at all Marceline businesses, can be punched in increments of $10 purchases. When the card is fully punched, take it to Yocom Jewelry to be entered in a monthly drawing of $50 in MAD$ (Marceline Area Dollars). The first drawing will be at the end of July, and additional cards are available at all merchants. The Marceline Betterment Association (our Junior Chamber group) is busy with lots of activities. During the 4th of July celebration they will be selling trees for $25. You can keep your tree or donate it to the restoration of the nature trail at the old Marceline Country Club. What a great idea! On Friday, July 16 at 8:30 they're showing a free movie at the Walt Disney Amphitheater. Bring the family and enjoy the show. The Marceline Betterment Association is comprised of young people, 20 to 40-something, committed to encouraging community involvement, family entertainment, betterment projects and charity work.
