MFA Exchange in Marceline

MFA Exchange has been around in Marceline since the mid 1950’s. Even though several new things have been added to the business, one thing stays the same, the quality service that you receive.

James Kearns, the local manager, has been working for the MFA company for 25 years. He has been here in Marceline for the past 17 years. Terry Siemens, the truck driver, has worked for MFA for 17 years also. He’s the one that usually brings you your feed. If Terry does not bring your feed then Jason Sportsman might. Jason does basically whatever needs to be done, along with grinding feed and driving the trucks. And the woman that keeps it all together is Hilma Miller. She does most of the bookeeping and secretarial work.

MFA Exchange buys local grain mostly from Linn and Chariton Counties. Their main grains are soybeans, corn, and wheat. Once in awhile they also buy milo. MFA also grinds feed in which you can buy by the bag or by the bulk, and will deliver it to your nearby farm. All types of minerals are also available at MFA for all your livestock needs.

Crop proctection such as seed and fertilzer are sold at MFA. If you need farm supplies such as barb wire or mud boots, MFA has them too.

MFA is keeping up with the technology age when they had all their computer updated a couple of years ago. And last year the company spent nearly $50,000 on improvements to their grain elevators and for new equipment. The DTN Screen is a satelite dish that gives weather reports and grain markets along with other news in which farmers can stop in and check out to see what the weather is going to be like.

MFA Exchange also offers a MFA Scholarship of $1,200 to Marceline R-5 Seniors every year. This helps out the community kids and gives them some fiancial support.

MFA is a member of the Agri Service Division and a local board is elected every year to have a say in how the company is ran. It also helps farmers in financing crops which is different than other companies similar to MFA.

MFA Exchange is located at 118 East Santa Fe Ave in Marceline. Their hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday. During their busy season, mainly the spring and fall, they are willing to stay open seven days a week if needed. You can also call MFA Exchange at 376-2028 and they will try to help you out!
